CERT (Community Emergency Response Team)

  SIUE Student Leadership Development Program and Volunteer Services and Illinois Campus Compact are collaborating with Collinsville Emergency Response team to provide training in case of an emergency or disaster.  Nationally, Campus Compact has been encouraging state compacts to work with their colleges to provide training to assist communities with emergencies such as the hurricanes in the Gulf Coast.  The US Federal Government established CERT Training in 1994 to develop a civilian community corps in basic crisis response to aid emergency services.  training covers disaster preparedness, fire safety, first aid, medical triage, light search and rescue, team organization, disaster psychology, and terrorism.

SIUE volunteer projects offer an opportunity to explore and become involved in the community, meet new people, and gain community service hours toward completion of the Student Leadership Development Program.

Please wear comfortable clothing and sturdy shoes (tennis shoes).

Free – Advance Registration Required.

To receive certification, both Saturdays must be attended.
