What is an Alternative Spring Break?
An Alternative Spring Break trip is available to students who wish to participate in an extended community service opportunity during spring break. These overnight trips provide students with a truly unique and fulfilling volunteer experience bringing together service and learning.
The following trip is planned for the 2012 - 2013 academic year:
The purpose of this trip is to promote lifelong community involvement and critical thinking about societal issues. This includes strong direct volunteer service, orientation, education, training, reflection, reorientation, diversity, alcohol- and other drug-free activities. The project outcomes of these activities are to assist New Orleans homeowners in returning to their homes, restore community pride, and increase community involvement through community service.
The mission of Rebuilding Together New Orleans is a continuing volunteer effort to improve the quality of life of low income homeowners, particularly those who are elderly, disabled, or single head of households with minor children, through home repair and revitalization of New Orleans’ neighborhoods.
