9:10 a.m. Speaker: Myra Lewis, Community Organizer, Metropolitan Congregation United
Title: Ice Breaker & Discovering Women’s Strengths from Our Past Role Models
Myra Lewis will engage participants in looking at our past female role models. What are the obstacles they overcame and how did these remarkable women achieve their goals? What were their strengths and what were their weaknesses? What attributes of these women do we cherish? Do we have their gifts? How do we tape our inner abilities?
Bio: Myra Lewis is a Community Organizer for Metropolitan Congregations United for the greater St. Louis. Her focus is organizing its members in North St. Louis County around housing issues and public transportation. Myra has a degree in Psychology from Missouri State University and is a native North St. Louisan.
10:00 a.m. Speaker: Johann Ellerbrake, Vice President of UCM & Puentes de Esperanza
Title:Finding Our Voices & Action Taken
Johann Ellerbrake will share her story of her active participation in the early civil rights movement. She will share her challenges from her experiences and her triumph as to how it has shaped her life’s mission.
Bio: Johann received her BS in Physical Therapy from Washington University in 1957 and a MA in Management from Webster University. She served five years with Back Bay Mission placed her in Mississippi in the 1950s and 1960s working on civil rights issues. She presently serves as Vice President of UCM and of Puentes de Esperanza.

10:45 a.m. Speaker: Cheryl Sommer, Pastoral Assistant, St Claire Church, O’Fallon, IL
Developing Relationships Through One On One Interviews
A one on one interview is a powerful tool to use in developing relationships with others who share common interests with our goals. In this session, Cheryl will explain how to do an effective one on one interview and will give participants time to practice doing an interview.
Bio: Cheryl is a pastoral associate at St. Clare Catholic Church in O'Fallon, Illinios, with responsibilities for adult faith formation and social justice.
11:45 a.m.Speaker: Robin DeCosta Kilpatrick, SIUE Career Development Center
Title:Finding Your Voice & Making a Commitment
Up to now, you have identified your gifts, talents, and abilities with an understanding of organizing your relationships. But what holds us back from accomplishing the “things” in our lives. What are the obstacles? Who holds us back? What messages have we been sent throughout our life? What do we need to keep in our lives and what do we need to dump?
Bio: Robin Kilpatrick has been in Career Counseling for the past 17 years and is currently employed at SIUE. She graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and her Master of Arts in Counselor Education. She is motivated by her desire to assist everyone in realizing their exquisite potential, and serves as a catalyst in achieving that potential.
