Short Biography:

Nolan Sharkey is a senior working towards a Business Economics and Finance degree with a minor in Political Science. He was born and raised in Fairview Heights, Illinois and transferred to SIUE in summer 2009 after attending universities in California and Texas. As president, he resides as an ex officio member of all Student Government committees and is a voting member on the University Planning and Budget Committee, University Quality Committee, and Student Publication Committee.

Short Biography:

Erik Zimmerman is a junior Philosophy major. He is from Morton, Illinois. Since joining Student Government his freshmen year, Zimmerman has served on the Student Organization Advisory Board and External Affairs Committee. As a sophomore, Vice-President Zimmerman served the SIUE student body as a Student Senator. Zimmerman is also a Resident Assistant in Cougar Village. He is the current Vice Chair of the Parking and Traffic Committee.

Jeffry Harrison was elected by the students at SIU Edwardsville to serve on the SIU Board of Trustees and is on his second term. He serves as a member of the Board’s Architecture and Design Committee and Audit Committee.  Harrison is a senior at SIU Edwardsville, majoring in Business Administration with specializations in Finance and Entrepreneurship.  He also served as the Financial Officer for Student Government during the 2009-10 academic year.

Elizabeth Wall is a 21 year-old senior majoring in Nursing. Wall is from Springfield Illinois.  She has been involved in student government for the last
two years as a Senator and School Spirit and Pride Chair. This year, as Internal Affairs Officer, Wall hopes to recruit hard-working, and motivated students to Student Government, as well as work on retention of Student Government members. Wall is also continuing to work on the “We are One, We are the ’e’ Campaign and to develop the new Cougar Pride Committee.

Allie Tipton is a senior majoring in Speech-Language Pathology. Financial Officer Tipton is from Troy, Missouri. She has served on the Finance Board, Fee Review committee, and the VSA Steering Committee. Tipton is currently the Financial Officer for Student Government. She enjoys working with students and making changes to better this campus.

Sekinat Lawal is the External Affairs Officer for Student Government and is involved in four other student organizations on campus. She received her Bachelors Degree at SIUE in Community Health Education and Spanish. She is currently a graduate student in the Public Administration and Policy Analysis Department. She has a focus in International Relations and plans to work for the WHO in the future. Lawal enjoys volunteering and meeting new people.

Emily Schertz is a junior History major from Chatham, Illinois. Previously a Student Senator, Schertz is the current Student Organization Relations Officer, and chair of Student Organization Advisory Board. Schertz is looking forward to helping all student organizations during the academic year.
