Become a Peer Leadership Consultant!

The Peer Leadership Consultants (PLCs) are student volunteers who facilitate leadership development and work to expand resources and encourage community involvement of SIUE students by creating and facilitating workshops, programs, and events on topics related to organizational and leadership development. In addition, the PLCs perform necessary administrative tasks for the Kimmel Student Involvement Center.

What do the PLC's do?

Leadership and Organization Development (these hours are both scheduled and flexible program hours)

  • Develop and facilitate training, workshops, educational materials and other resources on leadership and organizational development topics
  • Consult with students and provide assistance in addressing leadership and organizational needs
  • Coordinate resources to help students identify and access leadership development opportunities

 Event Planning (these hours are both scheduled and flexible program planning hours)

  • Plan and implement outreach events, information fairs and recognition for student leaders and groups
  • Plan and implement leadership development events
  • Participate in implementation and support of student events sponsored by the Kimmel Student Involvement Center

 Campus Involvement

  • Assist new and returning students interested in increasing their involvement and leadership development
  • Facilitate involvement and leadership development information to classes, tour groups, etc.
  • Support campus-wide involvement and leadership development initiatives

Information, Referral and Administrative Tasks

  • Maintain data to provide updated information pertaining to campus-wide student events and organizations
  • Provide information and referrals regarding involvement, leadership and personal development opportunities
  • Perform administrative tasks for the Kimmel Student Involvement Center as needed

Peer Leadership Consultants will receive a variety of training before facilitiating various sessions for the campus community.  They will work with other organizations to determine leadership training needs on campus.
