Greek organizations at SIUE are self-governed by four organizations. A description of each organization is given below.
Collegiate Panhellenic Council (CPC)
The CPC is the local governing body for the three SIUE sororities under the National Panhellenic Council. CPC is responsible for running formal recruitment each fall, and promoting sisterhood in the Greek community through educational programs, community service, and social activities. The sorority chapters that are affiliated with CPC are: Alpha Phi, Alpha Sigma Tau, and Delta Phi Epsilon. For more information about sororities, go to the SIUE CPC website or the National Panhellenic Conference.
Interfraternity Council (IFC)
The IFC is the local governing body for the four SIUE fraternities that are affiliated with the National Interfraternity Conference. IFC promotes fraternity rush, oversees risk management issues, hosts educational and recreational programs for the Greek community, and holds fraternity-wide philanthropy and service events. The seven fraternity chapters that make up IFC are: Alpha Kappa Lambda, Delta Lambda Phi, Phi Kappa Psi, Phi Mu Alpha, Sigma Phi Epsilon, Sigma Pi, and Sigma Tau Gamma. For more information about fraternities, go to the SIUE IFC website or the North American Interfraternity Conference.
National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC)
The NPHC is the local governing body for the eight historically African-American fraternities and sororities that are chartered at SIUE. NPHC sponsors different events for its member organizations and the SIUE community as a whole. Some traditional events include: the Marchdown stepshow, NPHC Week, the NPHC dance, and various service programs. There are five fraternities in NPHC at SIUE : Alpha Phi Alpha, Iota Phi Theta, Kappa Alpha Psi, Omega Psi Phi, and Phi Beta Sigma; and two sororities: Sigma Gamma Rho, and Zeta Phi Beta. For more information about NPHC fraternities and sororities, go to the National Pan-Hellenic Conference.
Greek Council brings together the fraternity and sorority chapters from the other three councils, plus Gamma Phi Omega and Alpha Omega Eta to help strengthen the Greek community at SIUE. Greek Council represents the interests of all SIUE fraternities and sororities, and sponsors events like Greek Week and the Ebony and Ivory All-Greek Stepshow, as well as numerous educational programs.
