Michelle Welter
Associate Director

Michelle came to SIUE as a 17 year old freshman in 1999 and hasn't left.  She never intended to stay at the University that long, but while an undergrad she fell in love with the campus and the people at SIUE.  While pursuing a degree in Political Science, Michelle was active in Student Government--serving as Student Body President during her senior year.  After being accepted to law school, Michelle had a change of heart and decided that a career in Student Affairs was more her speed.  She served as the graduate assistant for Student Organizations in Kimmel until she was hired full time in 2005 as the Assistant Director, Campus Life.

When not working, Michelle enjoys spending time with her husband, Ryan and their two sons, Jack and Carson.  Michelle is a die-hard St. Louis Cardinals fan and can be found at Busch Stadium for opening day every year (she has only missed one opening day in the past eight years--for the birth of her youngest son, Carson in 2012).  Michelle also enjoys baking tasty treats for staff meetings, debating politics, finding amazing things on Pinterest that she will never actually make, and watching ridiculous TV shows.

John Davenport
Coordinator of Greek Life

John was born in Alton, Illinois and attended Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.  Upon graduation, he attended graduate school at SIUE and worked as a graduate assistant in the Kimmel Leadership.  John returned to SIUE in 1999 following a five-year interval that included a move back to Indiana and volunteering for his fraternity.  John returned to the Kimmel Leadership Center in 1999, and has been advising SIUE fraternities and sororities ever since.  He enjoys architecture, cars, drawing, travel, trivia, and his schnauzers Lucy and Ethel.

Anee Korme
Assistant Director, Campus Life

Anee Korme is a Washington, DC area native who relocated to the Edwardsville area in July 2012. She is passionate about student leadership and college success for all students. She has a broad range of professional experiences including: working as a Market Researcher, an Associate at an African American Art Gallery, and University reenrollment services. As an undergraduate at Temple University, Anee was involved in Student Government, Campus Activities Board and the American Marketing Association. Personally, she enjoys listening to live music, fancy shoes and collecting rose's.

Sarah Laux
Assistant Director, Civic Engagement
Sarah Laux hails from Alton, IL and has lived in Illinois all of her life except for the 4 years she lived in St. Louis when she attended Saint Louis University.  She graduated from SLU with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Psychology Minor.  Six weeks before graduation she discovered her passion for higher education & student affairs and has never been happier or more sleep deprived.  She graduated from SLU (again) with a Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration.

Although a Billiken at heart, she is glad she can finally affiliate herself with a mascot that can be easily identified in the animal kingdom (Go Cougars!).

When she isn’t working, if there is such a thing, she can be found running, training for marathons, logging too many hours on Pinterest, shopping at Target, snuggling with her dog Scout, and consuming too much coffee, dark chocolate, & peanut butter.

Natalie Coleridge
Office Support Associate

After receiving a Master’s degree in English, I taught school for a while, including here in the Midwest.  Later I moved to Boston, MA, where I worked at an international publishing company for many years.  In my spare time I volunteered as a tutor for urban city children and as a docent at Minuteman National Historical Park in Concord, MA.  I fell in love with Concord, where I enjoyed walking around Walden Pond, which Henry David Thoreau made famous.  My first love in that area continues to be the North Shore, where I make annual trips to Crane Beach on the Atlantic Ocean.  Back now in the Midwest, I am a member of a local haiku writing group and employ my communication skills and appreciation for volunteerism by working in the Kimmel Leadership Center and nurturing students the way I was nurtured by faculty and staff in my own college years.

Bonnie Farrington
Office Support Associate

A native of Edwardsville, Bonnie earned a bachelor’s degree in English at the University of Illinois.  She has taught high-school English as well as university-level ESL. Her hobbies include reading, writing, and rug braiding.

Adana Robinson
Office Support Associate

Adana is a Louisiana native who is still wondering how she got to Illinois.  Her educational background was so long ago that she doesn’t remember any of it, except that LSU was involved. Her hobbies include yelling at her kids, crocheting, browsing Pinterest, and attempting to cook without setting off the smoke alarm.

Vickie Sumner
Account Technician

Vickie Sumner is an Illinois native, born the same year as SIUE, approximately 20 miles east of the campus as the crow flies.  Vickie is a DJ for WGEL in Greenville, IL, she is a member of United for Others in Grantfork, IL, and enjoys singing and playing the steel pan with SIUE Steel.

Kiara Akpore
Graduate Assistant, Campus Activities Board

Kiara is currently pursuing a Masters of Business Administration at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Her big hair is not hard to miss, but be careful not to mistake her for her identical twin sister who may immediately place you on "stranger-danger" status. In addition to Kiara's twin fun she enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, playing soccer, and tearing up the treadmill at the gym.

Katrina Boogerd
Graduate Assistant, Volunteer Services

Katrina Boogerd's life has not necessarily taken the conventional route. After undergrad, she spent two years in Guyana with the Peace Corps, working with kids and teachers in a variety of ways. She is currently in graduate school to fulfill a dream sparked in seventh grade of being an art therapist.  She is really good at listening, creating, teaching, and sarcasm.  Not necessarily in that order at all times.

Mallory Large
Graduate Assistant, Campus Activities Board

Mallory is a second year graduate student in the Speech-Language Pathology program. She completed her bachelor's degree at Illinois State University. She enjoys living in the St. Louis area, despite the fact that she is a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan. If you quote a "Phil's-osophy" of Life, she will be your friend forever.  She likes going to the movies and traveling.

Kylie McCarver
Graduate Assistant, Volunteer Services

Kylie is from St. Peters, Mo and has spent her last 5 years at SIUE. She wasn’t planning to attend grad school but her irrational fear of failure and temptation of having the signature “Kylie McCarver, MSW, LCSW” made her stay. Her hobbies include volunteering, watching HGTV, crocheting, and playing card or board games…no she is not 80.

Heidi Schillinger
Graduate Assistant, Campus Activities Board

Heidi was born and raised in Pekin, IL.  Despite every effort to escape the small town life, she finally did to pursue a Master's degree in Health Communication with a minor in Business here at SIUe.  Her hobbies include dancing, crafting, Pinteresting her dream life, shopping and spending time with her loved ones.

Daniel Shields
Graduate Assistant, Student Organizations & Greek Life

Daniel Shields was born in Chicago, Illinois but somehow got moved to the smaller capital city of Springfield ,IL. He has a BA in Mass communications and minor in theater which he will utilize when he moves to LA to become bigger than Ryan Seacreast, Denzel Washington and Oprah combined after he finished grad school. So visit him while you can! He will try to pencil you in.

Chesley Waddell
Graduate Assistant, Campus Activities Board

Chesley is a first year graduate student in the Public Administration program who gave up the fashion runways for the hallways of SIUE. She also enjoys blogging, crafting, and baking but seems to spend a majority of her time studying and cleaning.
