IT Security Precautions for Traveling Abroad

Faculty and staff need to be mindful of what they take with them into any foreign country, especially China. Recent trends have shown American researchers are being targeted and having confidential information stolen. The FBI has been adamant that any electronic device taken into China will be viewed and most likely will have information stolen.

New Instruments Measure Online Readiness

The ITS Instructional Design & Learning Technologies Center has developed two online readiness instruments: one to measure student readiness for online learning and one to measure instructor readiness for online teaching. Establishing Copy and Print Restrictions In Blackboard Tests

To prevent Blackboard users from copying and printing while inside of a test, including on post-test feedback screens, faculty may want to establish copy/print restrictions in Blackboard Tests. Follow the instructions below to set up such restrictions:

  • Select "Edit the Test Options" on a test you have already created
  • Go to the "Content Link Description" text box under "Test Information"
  • Select the "HTML" option from the bottom row of buttons on the content editor

OER Pilot Program Featured on WBGZ 1570AM

During the Fall 2014 semester, 11 SIUE faculty members and more than 300 SIUE students are participating in a pilot project using Open Educational Resources (OER) in their courses. The goal of this project is to to gauge the feasibility of using OER as no-cost or low-cost alternatives to traditional textbooks.
