In order to connect to other locations all over the world, ITS makes use of two systems - Polycom and WebEx.

The Polycom system is physically built into the room with compatible microphones, cameras, etc. This system delivers the best possible learning experience between two or more locations. This system does require compatible hardware on the other end, which is typically available at all universities, but not always.

The WebEx service is hosted externally and available online. WebEx requires only a computer, web cam, and a microphone. ITS offers high end web cams and microphones in our rooms, or the service can be used in other SIUE rooms with any web cam or microphone, even those built into a laptop. WebEx offers the most flexibility, as the people you are connecting to only need a computer on their end. This makes WebEx a popular choice for impromptu connections or training courses.
