BLACKBOARDBlackboard is a course management system that allows students and faculty to share and engage in learning material while communicating with each other in a virtual learning environment. Blackboard is extremely flexible and offers many different capabilities. Faculty members can use a Blackboard site to enhance a course with online handouts and electronic reserves or to deliver a completely online course where the students never meet face-to-face. Thousands of SIUE students use Blackboard every semester with their courses; a popular feature is the online Grade Center, which allows them to keep up-to-date with their progress in each course. SIUE upgraded to Blackboard version 8.0 prior to the start of the Fall 2009 semester. See "What's New and/or Improved in Blackboard 8.0" to learn about the new features. If you experience any problems with Bb 8.0, please contact Information Technology Services at ftc_help@siue.edu or consult the Known Issues page. If you would like more information on the capabilities of Blackboard, please contact ITS at ftc_help@siue.edu or during normal business hours at 618-650-5500. We are located in LB 0005, in the basement of Lovejoy Library. | ![]() |
