ITS is pleased to introduce the new StudyMate Class product, a dramatic improvement to the StudyMate Author product we've licensed for years. StudyMate Author allowed faculty alone to create study aids. All creation activity took place outside of Blackboard for publication into the CMS. StudyMate Class is a plug-in for Blackboard allowing faculty and/or students to create study aids within a Blackboard course. Content can be manually created by the instructor alone, or by the students either alone or in groups. In addition, the instructor can import questions from Respondus pools and/or publisher test banks into StudyMate Class.
All StudyMate Class content is based upon one of three content creation templates: Fact, Multiple Choice, or Terminology/Definition. Instructors can grade students on their creation activities, and those grades are automatically added to the Blackboard Grade Center.
Once the content has been created, students can be presented with up to 11 different game-like review activities from which to choose according to their personal learning style. The activity types include flash cards, pick a letter, fill in the blank, crossword, quizzing, matching, challenge and more. Instructors can track and grade student access of the activities, if desired, with grades being recorded in the Grade Center.
Respondus, the maker of StudyMate Class, has excellent reference materials available on their web site that provide both an overview of the product as well as step by step instructions for using it. You are encouraged to visit the following:
ITS will be offering a series of workshops for faculty to introduce and demonstrate this product, showing you just how easy it is to create StudyMate Class activities. To register for one of these workshops visit: https://siue.co1.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_0Ok1FmyX6Dhintz.

Please note that there are known issues with mixed content (http and https) being blocked in recent versions of Firefox and Chrome. The creation of StudyMate Class activities by instructors and/or students is impossible until mixed content is allowed.
