Blackboard 9.1 Upgrade Resources

As part of the commitment to improving teaching and learning, SIUE will be upgrading the institutional learning management system from Blackboard 8 to Blackboard 9.1 at the start of the Fall 2012 semester.  ITS encourages Blackboard users to read the informational email messages that will be sent out periodically, follow the ITS Twitter feed, watch for updates on these resource pages, and attend the information and training sessions ITS will be offering throughout the spring and summer semesters in order to become familiar with the new system.

Request a Sandbox

ITS will create "sandbox" accounts in the Bb 9.1 test system for users who would like to explore Bb 9.1 and/or begin to design their courses for the Fall 2012 semester.  Any content or courses stored or developed in this sandbox environment will need to be exported into the Bb 9.1 production system for the Fall 2012 semester.  The naming convention for the test shells is a combination of the user's e-ID and the number of sandboxes requested (SANDBOX_eID_#).

Users attending Bb 9.1 training are required to have a sandbox account to use during the session.

Visit the Bb 9.1 Sandbox Form to submit a request.  Allow 3-5 business days for a course to be created.

Blackboard Collaborate Upgrade

Blackboard Collaborate will replace Wimba Live Classroom at the start of the Fall 2012 semester. ITS encourages users to attend the training sessions being offered throughout spring and summer semesters in order to become familiar with the new system.  Users wanting to retain their previously recorded Wimba Live Classroom sessions can submit a request to ITS to have those archives exported from Bb 8.
