As part of the commitment to improving teaching and learning, SIUE upgraded the institutional learning management system from Blackboard 8 to Blackboard 9.1 at the start of the Fall 2012 semester.
Because of the different architectures of the two systems, no existing Blackboard 8 course content can be exported to Blackboard 9.1. Faculty will need to build their courses in Blackboard 9.1, reviewing and updating content as they do so. Only two elements of Bb 8 courses can be successfully exported from Bb 8 and imported into Bb 9.1: Grade Center Columns and Settings, and Tests, Surveys, and Pools. Copying the whole course structure is not possible.
No existing personal Content Collection files will be migrated from Blackboard 8 to Blackboard 9.1. All users are encouraged to follow these instructions for managing and moving existing Content Collection files from Blackboard 8 to Blackboard 9.1.
For those instructors experienced in Blackboard 8 but struggling to find their way around in Blackboard 9.1, ITS recommends watching the Blackboard Collaborate recording of the workshop entitled "Working in the Blackboard 9.1 Course Shell". Note that you will be prompted to download and run a file to view that archived presentation.
