In May 2008, SIUE had the honor of hosting, for two days, a delegation of Education USA advisors from Ecuador, Egypt and Malawi.
The advisors counsel students in their respective countries about the options for educational study and exchange in the United States. Education USA advisors work out of U.S. embassies, a Fulbright Commission, or private non-profit institutions, like AMIDEAST.
The visiting advisors met with faculty members from Engineering, Business, Biology, and Environmental Sciences. They also had opportunities to meet international student leaders and the staff of the Office of International Programs to learn about admissions criteria, scholarship opportunities and support for international students at SIUE. Social activities included visits to the Arch and the Missouri Botanical Gardens and dinner in downtown St. Louis.
The advisors visited a total of five universities and community colleges while in Illinois before they traveled to Washington, DC for the annual NAFSA conference.
