Safe Zone's mission at SIUE is to develop a campus community of allies and provide support to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) students, faculty, and staff with the ultimate goal of developing SIUE as a safe and welcoming place for LGBT people.

The goal of the Women’s Studies program at SIUE is to invite students to inquire critically into the beliefs, attitudes, and values surrounding gender and sexualities.
The SIUE Black Studies Program comprises a field of knowledge that concentrates on African American progress and well-being.
