WORKSHOP

Promoting Learning and Retention of Knowledge in the Classroom

Sponsored by the Office of Academic Innovation and Effectiveness

This workshop presents four possible ways of improving the style of teaching to promote deeper learning and the retention of knowledge: planning the course backward, communicating teaching goals to students, identifying students’ expectations, and making students aware of their own progress. The workshop participants will have the opportunity to put the suggested methods in use and plan a possible adaptation of these methods in their own courses.
