WORKSHOP

Faculty Dialogue on Teaching Interdisciplinary Studies Courses

Sponsored by the Office of Academic Innovation and Effectiveness

IS courses can be a difficult part of a teaching load and there are many aspects of IS courses that can easily go wrong.  Yet, when things go right, IS courses can be rewarding for faculty and students.  In effort to understand these dynamics, we will facilitate a discussion on some of the  problems and solutions that we have encountered in teaching our IS course.

We would invite you to bring any issues and solutions you may have had with an IS course to discuss with the group.

Date:

Tuesday, October 8, 2013
Time: 9:30 a.m. - 10:45 p.m.
Location: MUC Board Room
Facilitators: Chad Huddleston and Mark Hildebrandt

Biographies:  Dr. Chad Huddleston is an Instructor in the Anthropology Dept.  He has taught at SIUE for 5 years, including four different IS courses.

Dr. Mark Hildebrandt is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geography at SIUE. Since his arrival in 1999, he has taught eight IS courses with 5 different instructors, both on campus and abroad.

Professor Hildebrandt and Professor Huddleston bring unique perspectives to this dialogue as we move toward a more diverse and international student body.
