HIRING UNIT: MORRIS UNIVERSITY CENTER
TITLE/RANK: Assistant Coordinator for Scheduling
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The function of this position is to schedule, develop and coordinate events scheduled for the University Center. Responsibilities include reserving the space, identifying needs, developing budgets, providing clear communication to the client about building services. Provide on-site coordination during evening and weekend hours. Serve as liaison to University Housing for summer camps when activity fits the mission and scope for the University Center. The University Center provides priority scheduling for University traditional events, student organizations and departments. Off-campus clients are scheduled during peaks and off-peak times.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT: Bargaining, regular. 12 months beginning July 1, 2009 through June 30, 2010 with the possibility of renewal. 100% appointment.
SOURCE OF FUNDS: Local
SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree required; two years experience in a related field such as hotel, conference center, private club, association, public agency or private sector, meeting planning or special events management. Evidenced experience and skills in event coordination, hospitality management, and program coordination.
Excellent customer service skills and understanding of service oriented unit. Evidenced experience and knowledge of accepted business practices and procedures. Excellent organizational skills with ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously. Substantial verbal and written skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to interact with diverse publics and be sensitive to their needs and interests. Willingness to accept new challenges and work toward their successful completion. Commitment to service orientation regarding client needs. Commitment to the team approach concept within the Morris University Center and the University.
