HIRING UNIT: UNIVERSITY SERVICES TO EAST ST. LOUIS-EARLY HEAD START
TITLE/RANK: Project Specialist/Infant & Toddler Teacher Aide (As Needed)
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The Project Specialist/Infant & Toddler Teacher Aide assists in creating and managing an attractive, warm, and challenging learning environment for infants/toddlers, incorporating developmentally appropriate early intervention, learning and care activities which meets the needs of the group and individual children and families, including: assists in implementing the Early Head Start Program’s curriculum and the Head Start Performance Standards; assists in preparing daily lesson plans; assists in documenting classroom volunteer activities; communicates daily with parents; assists in organizing the classroom and keeping it safe, sanitary and like a good home environment; provides for diaper changing and toilet training; assures primary and continuity of care; relates to infants/toddlers in a calm, caring, nurturing and soothing manner and responds to all cries, babbles, and talk; completes daily anecdotal records; assists in making referrals; assists with developmental screenings; participates in IFSP’s; provides meals and snacks. Feeds infants according to their own schedules; assists in conducting two home visits and two parent conferences.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT: Bargaining, Regular. 12 months with possibility of renewal based on the availability of funds. 100% appointment.
SOURCE OF FUNDS: Federal
SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: (Twelve month positions.) Two years of credits from an accredited college or university with a minimum of six (6) semester or equivalent hours in early child development and coursework specifically related to infants and toddlers in group care preferred; or six months with infants/toddlers in group care, and one year credits as listed above, with six (6) semester or equivalent quarter hours in child development, with some specific to infants and toddlers in group care preferred; or, current Infant/Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA) credential and full time experience with infants/toddlers in group care. Excellent interpersonal, nurturing, and problem-solving skills required. Minimum salary with an Associate degree $1951.00 per month.
