
HIRING UNIT: UNIVERSITY SERVICES TO E. ST. LOUIS TRIO: UPWARD BOUND/MATH & SCIENCE PROGRAM
TITLE/RANK: Counselor (2 Positions)
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The purpose of this position is to provide educational, career, academic, social and personal counseling and guidance. This position provides guidance and academic advisement to program participants. The Counselor will assist with the implementation of program activities and perform other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT: Bargaining, Durational, Beginning September 1, 2009 through August 31, 2010 with possibility of renewal, 50% appointment
SOURCE OF FUNDS: Federal
SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Master's degree preferred. Bachelor's degree required in counseling, student personnel or public administration preferred or a related field. Must submit an official transcript. Interest in and ability to relate to teenage children is essential to the position. Must have the ability to assume responsibility on your own. Must have the ability to establish a rapport with youth. Experience in working in related educational and/or other programs for youth from low-income/disadvantaged students desired. Those having successful prior working experience with youth preferred.
