
HIRING UNIT: COUSELING SERVICES
TITLE/RANK: Counselor (2 Positions)
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The purpose of this position(s) is to provide mental health assessment, diagnosis, counseling, and psychotherapy for students of the university. The Counselor(s) will coordinate, administer and interpret assessment batteries to appropriately evaluate clients. This position maintains client charts, writes reports and performs administrative duties. The Counselor(s) provides supervision to graduate level practicum studies, provides consult and coordinates care between campus and community resources regarding the clinical needs of students. This position assist in the facilitation and provision of outreach efforts to the campus community, acts as a liaison to the assigned residence hall and provides crisis intervention and consultation. The incumbent(s) will participate in educational and professional opportunities. On-call duty is required.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT: Bargaining, Regular, 9 months, Academic year with possibility of renewal, 100% appointment
SOURCE OF FUNDS: Local
SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with education and experience
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Master's degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA accredited college or university graduate program; licensed (licensed eligible) in the State of Illinois. Training in DSM IV diagnosis and classifications, therapeutic orientations, and treatment modalities. Ability to administer batteries of psychological assessments with appropriate follow-up report. Outreach/presentation skills (e.g. to campus community and professional conferences, psycho-educational workshops) required. Must possess strong individual , crisis intervention, and group counseling skills. Prefer candidates with experience and a strong interest in men's issues including substance abuse and/or experience in women's issues including working with survivors of sexual assault and grant writing.
