TITLE/RANK: Assistant Director for Residential Education
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The Assistant Director for Residential Education develops and implements living and learning programs and other academic initiatives in the residence halls and apartment communities, which support the academic mission of the University. This position provides direction for the co-curricular and residential aspects of residentially-based academic communities by working with faculty and staff to create a seamless environment between the living and learning components of University life. The Assistant Director for Residential Education develops new academic initiatives in the Housing communities, provides direction and ongoing support for existing programs, and assists in program assessment. TERMS OF APPOINTMENT: Professional-Term beginning January 4, 2010. 12 month appointment with possibility of renewal. Anticipated start date is January 4, 2010 (negotiable).
SOURCE OF FUNDS: Local
SALARY RANGE: Starting salary $39,037 per year
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: A master's degree in Student Personnel, Higher Education, or a related field; three years progressive, post-master's experience in a residential life program; experience demonstrating extensive use of counseling, interpersonal, and communication skills; experience in or awareness of the skills required when supervising professional staff, experience working with and addressing the needs of a diverse community, and strong administrative and organizational skills. Prior experience enhancing students' academic achievement through teaching classes or working with academic enhancement programs, living-learning communities, and faculty is strongly preferred.
