HIRING UNIT: UNIVERSITY SERVICES TO EAST ST. LOUIS
HEAD START
TITLE/RANK: Project Specialist/Teacher Aide (As needed)
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Assists in implementing the program curriculum and Head Start Performance Standards for classrooms, preparing developmentally appropriate lesson plans and organizing the classroom and classroom techniques; assists in maintaining classroom materials; facilitates children's learning using appropriate child guidance techniques; assists in recruiting and training classroom volunteers; maintains anecdotal records, conducts/assists with developmental screenings, and assists with two home visits and two parent conferences per child per year; involves parents in the classroom and the program; assists with maintaining records and participates in staff and case management meetings.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT: 100%, bargaining, continuing (renewable based on availability of funds), 9 month and 12 month appointment beginning September 1, 2009.
SOURCE OF FUNDS: Federal
SALARY RANGE: commensurate with qualifications and experience.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Two years of credits from an accredited college/university with a minimum six semester or equivalent hours in early child development or related course work OR a minimum of one year full time early childhood experience in a licensed early childhood program and one year credits from an accredited college/university, with six semester or equivalent hours in early child development or related course work OR current Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. Excellent interpersonal, nurturing and problem solving skills required.
