HIRING UNIT: EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER
TITLE/RANK: Project Specialist/Teacher
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Establish and maintain an environment that ensures children’s safety and their healthy development. Assist in planning and implementation of developmentally appropriate activities that advance all areas of children’s development and learning, including social, emotional, intellectual and physical competence. Assist in conducting the program in accordance with the center’s goals and principles of developmentally appropriate practices. Ensure the individual needs of each child are met with dignity and respect, and that all safety procedures are followed according to the center’s policies and procedures.
SOURCE OF FUNDS: Local
SALARY RANGE: $28,900 and dependent upon qualifications and experience.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Bachelor’s Degree (early childhood education, child development or related field preferred). Two years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified including adult supervision. Knowledge of principles and theories of child growth and development, NAEYC best practices/accreditation criteria, Illinois Department of Child & Family Services Child Care Licensing Standards, child and adult observation and assessment. Strong communication, both verbal and written, skills and ability to work as part of a team. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy and NAEYC Code of Ethics. Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Ability to work in a high stress environment.
