ACADEMIC ADVISOR (2 Positions) - ACADEMIC ADVISING
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The purpose of this position is to guide students to the successful achievement of their academic goals at the University. The Academic Advisor provides academic advising services to well over 400 undeclared undergraduate students. These services include, but are not limited to, providing accurate, current curricular information; assisting students in both short term and long term academic program planning; referring students to other offices and services on campus when appropriate; and providing counsel regarding career plans, academic difficulties, and degree program selection.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: A minimum of a Master’s degree in student personnel, higher education or related field is required. Experience in academic advisement of undecided students, career planning and/or other relevant areas of student personnel services; working knowledge of college student development theory; strong communication skills; familiarity with multi-cultural, cognitive, social and other developmental concepts; detailed knowledge of University policies and procedures; thorough understanding of degree programs and requirements; and excellent organizational skills.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT: Professional Staff, bargaining, 12-months, July 1 through June 30, 100%.
SOURCE OF FUNDS: State
SALARY RANGE: $2,995 per month
