TITLE/RANK: ASSISTANT COORDINATOR FOR DRINKING WATER SUPPLY TRAINING
HIRING UNIT: ENVIRONMENTAL RESOURCE TRAINING CENTER (ERTC)
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Assistant Coordinator is responsible for instruction of entry-level courses for students enrolled in one-year certificate program for water supply and wastewater treatment system operations. Assistant Coordinator will also be responsible for assisting in curriculum development, preparation of training support materials, and the instruction of continuing education courses for water supply operators and wastewater treatment system operators. Additional responsibilities include exam grading, exam preparation, data base management, special projects, applied research and providing technical assistance to drinking water supply operators and wastewater treatment system operators under the supervision of a Program Director.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT: 100% Regular Professional Staff Appointment. 12 months per year beginning July 1 through June 30 each year. Renewability based on availability of funds.

SALARY RANGE: $34,000-$38,000 dependent upon experience and qualifications.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: BS/BA degree in biology, chemistry, or environmental science preferred; or AAS degree in science and technology directly related to operation, maintenance, and management of drinking water supply and wastewater treatment systems; or Certificate of Completion from the ERTC Water Quality Control Operations Program; or equivalent in training and experience preferred. Applicant must be a certified operator with equivalent of an Illinois Class C public water supply certification and a Class 3 wastewater treatment system operator certification, with at least two years of work experience in plant operations, plant maintenance, and laboratory procedures. Experience in teaching and training is also preferred.
