TITLE/RANK: STUDENT INVOLVEMENT DIRECTOR
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: In the search for a Student Involvement Director, the Office of Student Affairs at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) seeks a dynamic and visionary leader who will build on SIUE’s strengths and advance its mission with fresh vision and energy. The Director is responsible for providing effective leadership, establishing short and long term goals and objectives of the Kimmel Leadership Center which provides development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of comprehensive educational, co-curricular and support services. The Director provides overall supervision and direction including but not limited to more than 200 student organizations and focuses on areas including: Student Leadership Development, student organizational development, Greek Life, Student Government, Campus Life, Student Legal Services Program, and Civic & Social Justice Engagement. The Director is responsible for advising and mentoring students, faculty, and staff for the purpose of improving and enhancing campus life. The Director is responsible for establishing, managing budgets and fiscal authority for accounts totaling over one million dollars. A staff of 10 report to this position, five of which are under its direct authority.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
•Master’s degree in Student Affairs Administration, College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, or closely related field.
•Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).
•Five years of progressive administrative experience including supervisory and budget experience.
•Experience in areas regarding Campus Activities, Program Planning and Leadership Development.
•Knowledge in Greek Programs and Civic and Social Justice programs preferred.
•Applicants are expected to be available evenings, weekends and special events.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT: Professional Staff, non-bargaining; 12-months beginning June 15, 2013
SALARY RANGE: Competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
