HIRING UNIT:  UNIVERSITY HOUSING

TITLE/RANK:   Community Director

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The Community Director is a full time, live-in professional staff member responsible for the daily operations of a 500-bed residence hall or a portion of an apartment community.  The Community Director directly supervises one Graduate Assistant (Assistant Community Director) and 11-16 undergraduate Resident Assistants (hiring, training, evaluation, discipline, resolution of work concerns, termination).  The Community Director is charged with creating an atmosphere that promotes student engagement, academic success, personal development, respect for diversity, and a strong sense of community.  On-call responsibilities shared for approximately 3,500 on-campus students.  The Community Director plays an integral role in residential curriculum development and further growing the living-learning program housed in their community.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT:  Professional Staff, non-bargaining; continuing, 12-months beginning July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2014, 100%

SOURCE OF FUNDS:  Local

SALARY RANGE: $29,256 annually (with Master’s degree), a two-bedroom furnished apartment, cable, partial meal plan, and professional development funds.  

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:  Master’s Degree and/or previous experience in student housing or related area of education are strongly preferred.  A Bachelor’s degree and a valid driver’s license are required.
