HIRING UNIT:  UNIVERSITY HOUSING

TITLE/RANK:   Assistant Director of Residence Life for Community Standards

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:  The Assistant Director of Residence Life for Community Standards (ADCS) is responsible for administering a comprehensive Housing-wide student conduct program.  The ADCS assists in the development of policies and procedures, maintains conduct records, conducts hearings, and provides indirect supervision to Residence Life staff in their role as conduct hearing officer.  The ADCD develops and implements educational programs and training events for the Housing community education them on community standards, civility and the conduct process.  The ADCS assists in the development and administration of departmental assessment initiatives and reporting, including and gathering data and statistics.  The ADCS mentors and counsels students on issues related to academic, social, and personal success.  The ADCS makes student referrals to relevant University departments and outside agencies when appropriate.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT:  Professional Staff, non-bargaining; continuing, 12-months, 100%

SOURCE OF FUNDS:  Local

SALARY RANGE:  $3,750 per month

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:  

Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel, or related field
Three years, post-master’s experience working with student housing and experience with student conduct
Supervisory ability
Strong working knowledge of student development theory, student learning theory
Knowledge of due process requirements and federal and state laws impacting student conduct policies and procedures
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent administrative and organizational skills
Ability to interact with and counsel effectively students, staff, and parents
And ability to make appropriate decisions quickly and independently
