HIRING UNIT:  INSTRUCTIONAL SERVICES
                         
TITLE/RANK:
Lecturers (Call Staff)

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:   Periodically, Instructional Services Department may have various openings throughout the year for administrative call staff, non-bargaining, term positions to teach developmental courses to college students.  These duties include teaching Reading, English, Math, Study Skills, Career Planning and Development.  Additional duties include tutoring individual and/or small group sessions with students; conference with students; attend unit staff meetings; observe office hours; prepare lessons, examinations; participate in curriculum development; evaluate student performance in class and assign grades; participate in staff development activities; provide informal academic counseling, as appropriate for students enrolled in courses; participate in community outreach activities, as appropriate (i.e. consulting, workshop presentations); tutor nursing students; and, perform other related duties as assigned by the unit director.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT:  Administrative staff, non-bargaining, term, beginning AY 2012-2013 & Summer 2013.  Possibility of renewal, appointments vary 10-100%.

SOURCE OF FUNDS:  State

SALARY RANGE:  up to $2,956 monthly determined by percentage of appointment

QUALIFICATIONS:  Master’s degree in subject area preferred; will consider applicants with Bachelor’s degree and appropriate experience.  Interest and experience in working with educationally disadvantaged students is beneficial.  Good communication skills are a must.
