HIRING UNIT: COLLEGE OF ARTS & SCIENCES
TITLE/RANK: Academic Advisor
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The Academic Advisor provides accurate, current curricular information including program major and minor requirements, transfer-credit evaluation, admission, probation, suspension, commencement eligibility, and graduation checks. This individual assists in short-term and long-term academic program planning and support, assists in maintaining curriculum guides, serves as a referral to other offices and agencies, and provides counsel with regard to program changes and career plans. The Academic Advisor assists in recruitment and retention. This position maintains and manages appropriate records. This position may be assigned other related tasks in support of the College of Arts & Sciences’ mission and goals. The job responsibilities of this position may necessitate evening hours and occasional weekend assignments.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT: Professional Staff, Bargaining, 12-months, fiscal, beginning July 1 through June 30, 100%.

SALARY RANGE: $35,946 annually
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: A Master’s degree in any subject area is required. Experience working in higher education is recommended. Experience working in academic advisement, and/or other relevant areas of student personnel services is recommended. Experience with a computerized student information system (Banner, PeopleSoft, Datatel, SIS, etc.) is recommended. Ideal candidates should demonstrate excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills; positive work ethic; organization and planning skills; and understand and adhere to the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA), as well as the affiliated associations.
