HIRING UNIT:  FACILITIES MANAGEMENT

TITLE/RANK: Manager of Campus Architects

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:  Primary responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to serving as a  liaison with outside Architectural and Engineering firms commissioned to design new and/or renovations to Campus facilities and as a liaison with the Capital Development Board for State funded construction projects; provides design services to the campus community for internal renovations and plan modifications; establishes Design Guidelines for SIUE; serves as the Building Code authority for all campuses; serves as the Board of Trustees Architect to review contract documents for all SIUE capital construction projects; attends meetings as the University representative for new design and construction projects; oversees projects as the University representative with the authority to make final decisions and commit finances for construction change orders; reviews budget and construction costs; approves contractor pay applications; serves as a liaison with open-end design firms for projects beyond the abilities of Facilities Management to design and/or build; assigns projects and agrees to design costs for each project.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT:  Professional staff, non-bargaining, continuing, 100%.

SOURCE OF FUNDS:  State

SALARY RANGE:  commensurate with education, training and/or experience

QUALIFICATIONS:  Must be a registered architect in the United States and become registered in the State of Illinois within six months of employment. A minimum of 15 years after college practical experience in the field of architecture, including project management and construction observation is required.
