HIRING UNIT: SCHOOL OF DENTAL MEDICINE (ALTON)
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Serve as the academic and intellectual leader of the School, including strategic planning, interdisciplinary research, and curriculum development. Serve as the principal advocate for strong professional programs in the School. Serve as the chief administrative officer of the School, including supervision of fiscal operations, management of School personnel, administration of the physical facilities and equipment of the School; support recruitment and development of faculty, staff, and students; oversight of academic disciplines and advisement of students; serve as the principal representative of the School to the University administration and to external agencies and organizations; seek external support to supplement state appropriations; and foster community and regional partnerships with the school. The Dean reports directly to the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT: Continuing, l2-month, l00%; beginning on or before September 1, 2012.
SOURCE OF FUNDS: State
SALARY RANGE: commensurate with qualifications and experience.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Must have a D.D.S./D.M.D. degree from an A.D.A. accredited institution; an Illinois license or eligibility for such license; prior teaching, research/scholarship and administrative experience. Accreditation experience, leadership experience and knowledge of curriculum planning and outcomes assessment are preferred.
