TITLE/RANK:    Researcher

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:   The successful candidate under the direction of the Senior Researcher and independently will develop and analyze student information for federal (IPEDS) and state (IBHE) reporting, perform research studies in support of the University’s decision-making and support specialized research studies.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT:  Administrative Staff, continuing, 12 month, 100%.

SALARY RANGE:  Commensurate with education, training and/or experience

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:  The position requires a bachelor’s degree in technical or business field and experience in Institutional Research, analysis, planning or budgeting; must demonstrate the ability to independently conceive, design, and conduct research using numerical analytic techniques and prepare reports resulting from such investigations; must have familiarity with higher education and government reporting; ability to access information using multiple programming languages including SPSS,SQL; significant knowledge about student information systems, experience with data, spreadsheet, graphic and word processing applications; experience with the use and manipulation of large scale complex databases; detailed knowledge of SIUE mission, academic programs and organizational structure and excellent written and oral communication skills.

The ideal candidate will have several years’ experience using and reporting from the Banner Student system. Desired experience includes proficiency with one or more of the following:  SPSS, Argos, Excel and SQL running against an operational data store, frozen extracts or native Banner.
