HIRING UNIT: KINESIOLOGY AND HEALTH EDUCATION
TITLE/RANK: Assistant Professor (School Health Education)
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Potential candidates will teach undergraduate courses in a variety of school and community health education areas. Some evening courses may be required. The successful candidate will also be expected to coordinate and supervise field placement students and student teachers, engage actively in university-school partnerships, participate in departmental, school, and university service, advise and direct the work of undergraduate students, promote the health education program within the university and region, and develop and maintain an active research agenda.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT: Academic, 9-month, tenure-track beginning August 16, 2010 continuing with opportunities for summer employment based on availability and enrollment, 100%.

SALARY RANGE: commensurate with training/experience.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Candidates must possess a doctoral degree in Health Education or closely related profession (ABD candidates are encouraged to apply but must have completed doctoral degree by August 16, 2010). The department is seeking candidates with the following characteristics; ability to communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and local schools, agencies and, organizations; a commitment to working cooperatively in pursuit of departmental, school, and university goals; a commitment to working in a culturally diverse community. Evidence of, or potential for successful teaching and scholarly activity is essential. Preference may be given to those with the ability to teach in a variety of areas including personal health, health education foundations, health literacy, nutrition, drug education, curriculum development, pedagogy, school health, and grant writing. Preference may also be given to those applicants with previous K-12 Health Education teaching and NCATE report preparation experience.
