HIRING UNIT:  THE GRADUATE SCHOOL

TITLE/RANK:
   Associate Dean

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:  The Associate Dean will coordinate graduate program review and assessment, assist with Graduate School policy development, assist with program and course additions, modifications, and deletions, coordinate graduate student recruitment, supervise the graduate coordinator of student recruitment, manage graduate student services, and assist the Graduate Dean as assigned.  He or she will also coordinate assistantships and competitions for graduate fellowships and research grants for graduate students.  Additionally, the Associate Dean individual will work with the Director of Assessment to coordinate graduate program review and assessment.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT:  Academic, beginning Spring 2010.  50% appointment.

SOURCE OF FUNDS:    State

SALARY RANGE:    50% release time during academic year, 1 month summer salary

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:  Terminal degree and faculty experience in graduate education is required.  The Associate Dean must be able to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, administrator, and students.  The individual must provide successful leadership in solving problems and building collaborative relationships.  The individual must provide an imaginative and positive approach to supporting and encouraging graduate education and must be able to work with faculty from a variety of disciplines.  Must be a member of SIUE faculty (this is an internal search).
