HIRING UNIT:  KINESIOLOGY AND HEALTH EDUCATION

TITLE/RANK:  Assistant Professor Public Health/Health Education

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:  Potential candidate will teach/mentor undergraduate students preparing for careers in the health education program; assist in the development of a new Master of Public Health degree; develop and maintain an active research agenda; participate in departmental, school, and university service; supervise undergraduate internships and service learning experience; and network with community, school, agencies, and organizations.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT: Academic, tenure-track, 9-month, 100%, continuing, beginning August 12, 2013.

SOURCE OF FUNDS: State

SALARY RANGE:  commensurate with education, training and/or experience.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Candidates must have a doctorate in Public Health Education, Health Promotion, Health Behavior or a closely related profession (ABD candidates are encouraged to apply but must have completed doctoral degree by August 12, 2013).  Candidates who do not have a doctorate in Public Health, must have a Master of Public Health (MPH).  Candidates should demonstrate evidence of, or potential for, successful teaching and scholarly activity.  The department is seeking a candidate with strong interpersonal skills who can communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and local public and private agencies and organizations. 

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED:  Preference will be given to those who have a CHES or MCHES certification; are familiar with Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) accreditation procedures; have experience with health-related agencies and organizations.  Teaching interest in areas of Community Health Education/Promotion not already addressed by current faculty.
