HIRING UNIT:  KINESIOLOGY AND HEALTH EDUCATION

TITLE/RANK:  Assistant Professor of Kinesiology (Exercise Physiology)

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:   Responsibilities include:  (a) Teaching/mentoring undergraduate and graduate students preparing for careers in exercise science; (b) developing and maintaining an active research agenda; and (c) demonstrating a commitment to professional, university, and community service.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT: Academic, tenure-track, 9-month, 100%, continuing, beginning August 15, 2013.

SOURCE OF FUNDS: State

SALARY RANGE:  commensurate with education, training and/or experience.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:   Doctoral degree with a specialization in exercise physiology, exercise science, integrative physiology or related field.  Ability to teach a variety of classes including exercise across the lifespan, exercise physiology, exercise assessment, exercise for special populations.  Candidates should be able to demonstrate the ability or potential to secure internal and external funding and publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals.  Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and members of the university and local community.  The department seeks to attract culturally and academically diverse candidates who are committed to a welcoming environment that serves all individuals.  ABD candidates are encouraged to apply but must have completed doctoral degree by August 15, 2013.

QUALIFICATIONS PREFERRED: Preferences will be given to candidates who have a strong research interest in one or more of the following areas:  obesity, diabetes, nutrition, or cardiovascular disease.  Preference will also be given to those with experience in the collection, processing, and analysis of human blood and tissue samples related to metabolic and cardiovascular disease markers.
