HIRING UNIT:  DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY

TITLE/RANK:
  Assistant Professor 

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:  The successful candidate will be expected to conduct a high-quality research program according to department expectations, demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and a strong commitment to a collegial environment.  Responsibilities will also include supervising student research and serving on departmental, school and university committees. 

 TERMS OF APPOINTMENT:  Academic, 9-month, tenure-track beginning August 16, 2010 continuing with opportunities for summer employment based on availability and enrollment, 100%.

  SOURCE OF FUNDS:    State

SALARY RANGE:    commensurate with training/experience.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:   Applicants must have a Ph.D. or ABD status in social psychology or a closely related field, and will be required to supervise student research, involve undergraduate students in their research, and serve on departmental, school and university committees.  Successful candidates must demonstrate promise for a high-quality research program, a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching, and a strong commitment to a collegial environment.  Preference will be given to candidates with an ability to teach undergraduate social psychology and some combination of the following undergraduate courses (listed in order of importance):  health psychology, industrial/organizational psychology, research design and statistics, evolutionary psychology, positive psychology.  Preference will also be given to candidates with high quality teaching and research experience.  The Department seeks to attract an active, culturally and academically diverse faculty of the highest caliber.
