DEPARTMENT OF HISTORICAL STUDIES
TITLE/RANK: African American Historian/Assistant Professor
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Teaching survey courses of African American or American history. Teaching advanced undergraduate and graduate courses with an emphasis on history prior to the twentieth century. A 3/3 teaching load is standard. Advising students, and participating on MA or Ph.D. committees pending graduate faculty approval. Department service, CAS, University, and community service.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT: Academic beginning August, 2010. 9 months beginning August 16, 2010 through on-going. 100% appointment.
SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Ph.D. is preferred, but ABD candidates will be considered. Successful candidates must have a research background in early African American history, and experience teaching courses in that field. Must be prepared to teach the survey and work with a 3/3 load of courses.
