HIRING UNIT:  THEATER AND DANCE

TITLE/RANK:   Instructor in Theater and Dance/Costume Shop Supervisor

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:  Coordinate, schedule and supervise fittings, manage rentals, and oversee production and rental budgets.  Teach construction to and supervise student labs and shop workers.  Secure, order, and maintain materials, supplies, equipment, facilities, and costume stock.  Hire and supervise student costume shop staff.  Opportunities to teach and/or design as departmental needs permit.  Work under the supervision of the senior costume faculty.  Summer employment possible.  Other duties as assigned.

 TERMS OF APPOINTMENT:  Academic beginning Fall, 2010 and Spring, 2011.  100% appointment.

SOURCE OF FUNDS:    State

SALARY RANGE:    Commensurate with qualifications and  experience

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:  MFA in Design or Technical Theater preferred.  MA or Bachelor’s degree considered with extensive professional experience.  Experience as a costume shop supervisor at a college, university, or in professional theater with expertise in fiscal, personnel management, and pattern making required.  Must be skilled in all areas of costume design, construction, pattern making, draping, cutting, fittings and alterations.
