ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES PROGRAM
TITLE/RANK: Assistant Professor
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses that support the Environmental Sciences Program. Teaching assignments will include lecture and laboratory courses at both undergraduate and graduate (MS) levels. Applicants will be expected to teach courses in support of the Department of Environmental Sciences, including courses in introductory environmental sciences, environmental chemistry, analysis of environmental contaminants, fate and transport of contaminants, and courses in the applicant’s area of expertise. The department and program seek applicants who will develop an active, independent research program in environmental chemistry. Research should be complementary with existing faculty and contribute to the interdisciplinary collaborations. The successful applicant will be expected to engage in scholarly work in any area of environmental chemistry, involve Environmental Sciences students in their research program, seek external grants to support an active research program, and produce scholarly publications. Service activities in support of the Environmental Sciences Program, the College of Arts and Sciences, and the University are expected.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT: Academic, tenure-track, beginning August 16, 2013, 100%
SOURCE OF FUNDS: State
SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with experience.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: A PhD (or equivalent, if the candidate received a degree outside the U.S.) is required. Postdoctoral and teaching experience is desired.
