HIRING UNIT:  COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES
                          DEPARTMENT OF THEATER AND DANCE

TITLE/RANK:  Assistant Professor-Dance

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:  Teach jazz, tap and musical theater dance.  Teach all levels of modern dance and ballet, dance composition, dance pedagogy and movement fundamentals.  Teaching may include General Education dance and/or classes as assigned.  Direct and coordinate the student dance company.  Release time assignment to choreograph for faculty/guest artist dance productions possible.  Mentor and recruit student dancers.  Summer teaching, directing or choreographic opportunities are possible. Other duties as assigned by the Chair of the department.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT:  Academic, tenure-track, 9-month, 100%, continuing, beginning August 16, 2013.

SOURCE OF FUNDS:  State

SALARY RANGE:  Commensurate with experience and qualifications.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:   M.F.A. in Dance preferred.  Other degrees considered with extensive professional experience.  Three years teaching at university level preferred.  Expert skill in modern and ballet  Ability to teach jazz, tap, musical theater dance.  African dance or other specialization desirable.  Knowledge/certification in Laban, Alexander, Feldendrais, or other somatic movement technique a plus.
