TITLE/RANK: Assistant Professor-Convergent Communications
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The Department of Mass Communications seeks candidates for a tenure track position in Convergent Communications. Standard teaching load is three courses per semester. Additional opportunities exist to teach courses in the candidate’s area of expertise in both the department’s undergraduate and graduate programs.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT: Academic, tenure track, beginning August 16, 2013, 100%.
SOURCE OF FUNDS: State
SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with education, training and experience.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: The department is seeking a candidate with an earned Ph.D. in mass communications, media arts, or related field (ABD considered); relevant professional experience, evidence of potential to create a program of scholarly research and/or creative activities and to assist in curriculum development , as well as the ability to teach courses in multimedia skills, such as html, css, and other production techniques, digital photography and visual storytelling and media convergence theories, practices and technologies. Ability to teach additional courses such as social media, graphics and animation, and interactive design principles is a plus.
