HIRING UNIT: COLLEGE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES
                         DEPARTMENT OF MASS COMMUNICATIONS

TITLE/RANK:  Assistant Professor-Journalism and New Media

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:   The Department of Mass Communications seeks candidates for a tenure track position in Journalism and New Media.  Standard teaching load is three courses per semester.  Candidates may have an opportunity to teach graduate courses in the program.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT:  Academic, tenure track, beginning August 16, 2013, 100%.

SOURCE OF FUNDS:  State

SALARY RANGE:  Commensurate with education, training and experience.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:  The successful candidate should possess Ph.D. (ABD considered) in journalism, mass communications or related discipline.  Preference will be given to applicants who have significant professional multimedia journalism experience and have the potential to conduct scholarly research in this area.  The candidate should be able to teach:  New Media reporting, writing across media platforms, digital and multimedia journalism.  Ability to teach copy editing, digital photo journalism and sports journalism is a plus.
