DEPARTMENT OF THEATER AND DANCE
TITLE/RANK: Assistant Professor-Design
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Teach courses in theater design, general education, and other related theater courses at the undergraduate level. Courses may include Scene Design and Construction, Theater Graphics, Scene Painting, Computers for the Theater, Scene Design II, Sound for the Theater, and The Dramatic Experience (General Education course for non-majors). Share design assignments for department productions with other theater design faculty members. Main area of design assignments will be in scene design with the possibility of designing costumes, lighting, or sound. Mentor student designers. Other duties as assigned.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT: Academic, tenure-track, 9-month, 100%, continuing, beginning August 16, 2013.
SOURCE OF FUNDS: State
SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Terminal degree (MFA) in theater, preferably in scene design. Secondary design area strongly preferred. Evidence of proficiency in scene design and successful teaching at the college or university setting. The ability for successful collaboration in theater process is required along with the ability to work effectively with faculty staff, and students. Expertise in another theater design area and/or professional theater design experience highly desirable.
