                         DEPARTMENT OF HISTORICAL STUDIES

TITLE/RANK:  Assistant Professor-19th Century United States Political History

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:  Responsibilities include teaching, research, and professional activities, as well as other duties associated with academic teaching positions.  Position is in the field of 19th Century United States political history, with a particular emphasis on teaching Civil War and Reconstruction history at both the undergraduate and graduate level in addition to the first half of the U.S. history survey and departmental core courses in historic methodology.  The position also has the responsibility to make connections with regional and national Abraham Lincoln scholars.  Position will carry a 3-3 teaching load.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT: Academic, tenure track, beginning August 2013, 100%.

SOURCE OF FUNDS: State

SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with education, training and/or experience.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: ABD’s close to completion may apply.  If Ph.D. is not completed at the beginning of the contract period, a one-year term appointment will be made at the rank of Instructor.
