HIRING UNIT:  COLLEGE OF ARTS & SCIENCES
                           DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY

TITLE/RANK:  Assistant Professor-Environmental Chemistry

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses that support the Department of Chemistry and the Environmental Sciences program.  Teaching assignments will vary and will include courses and laboratories at both undergraduate and graduate (MS) levels.  The department and program seeks applicants who will develop an active, independent research program in environmental chemistry. Preference will be given to applicants whose research would be synergistic with existing faculty and contribute to interdisciplinary collaborations.  The successful applicant will be expected to engage in scholarly work in any area of environmental chemistry, involve Chemistry and/or Environmental Sciences students in their research program, seek external grants to support an active research program, and produce scholarly publications.  Service activities in support of the Department of Chemistry, the ENSC Program, and the University are expected.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT: Academic, tenure- track, beginning August 16, 2012, 9 months.

SOURCE OF FUNDS:  State

SALARY RANGE:  Commensurate with experience and credentials.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:  A Ph.D. degree is required; postdoctoral and teaching experience is desired.
