DEPARTMENT OF MATHEMATICS AND STATISTICS
TITLE/RANK: Assistant or Associate Professor
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
Teaching mainly pre-calculus, calculus, and upper level courses in mathematics and mathematics education. Some mathematics courses may require use of computer labs. Perform research and publish in some area of mathematics or mathematics education. Supervise student teachers and undergraduate senior projects in mathematics. Contribute to the department, college, and university through appropriate service activities.
TERMS OF APPOINTMENT: Tenure-track contract for academic year beginning August 16, 2010; summer teaching may be available.
SOURCE OF FUNDS: State
SALARY RANGE: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Ph.D. in mathematics, or statistics, or in math education with a master’s in math or statistics. Substantial experience in math education preferred. Commitment to excellence in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses. Ability and willingness to use technology in the teaching of mathematics courses. Demonstrated capacity to perform research. Persons who have not completed all degree requirements by the beginning of the contract period may be considered for a term appointment at the rank of instructor until such time as all degree requirements have been completed.
