The following is a current civil service vacancy at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Applicants compete by examination. PLUMBER-FACILITIES MANAGEMENT
Description: This position performs plumbing tasks to maintain a comfortable, safe, and efficient environment for faculty, staff, students and visitors. Primary duties include: repair/replace/install all plumbing fixtures, and services to those fixtures, e.g., piping, fittings, valves, etc.; repair/replace/service/install heating and refrigeration units and gas appliances; uncrate/move plumbing equipment, refrigeration units, and gas appliances; repair and/or replace high temperature and chilled water lines; perform an assortment of plumbing tasks to renovated or new construction spaces for offices and/or instructional areas. Experience in refrigeration is preferred.
Minimum qualifications:
1. (A) Certificate of completion of apprenticeship as a Plumber under a registered Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training program.
OR
(B) Experience sufficient to qualify as a journeyman Plumber, with a minimum of five (5) years of actual work in the trade, which may
have included apprenticeship and/or applicable vocational training. The trade for this purpose shall include work normally performed by
Plumbers.
2. Possession of current State of Illinois Plumber's License. (must submit copy with application materials)
Starting salary: $36.80 per hour
